TABERNACLE, N.J. – Who is Justin Murphy, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate from New Jersey?
An attorney and resident of Tabernacle in Burlington County, Murphy previously served as a local elected official, including as deputy mayor and committeeman in Tabernacle Township. He has also run for Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd District and was a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2024 before launching another Senate bid in 2026.
Murphy, a proud native of South Jersey’s sprawling Pinelands, previously served in the U.S. Navy after enlisting as a teenager; his time in the service included deployment in the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq War.
The candidate describes himself as an American conservative focused on economic growth, tax reform, border security, energy independence, and support for the military. His campaign platform calls for significant tax reductions, spending cuts, stronger action against crime and terrorism, and protection of Medicare for seniors. He has also emphasized opposition to offshore wind development along the Jersey Shore and advocates a tougher stance toward China.
Having emerged from an upset win in the 2026 Republican primary, Murphy will now challenge incumbent U.S. Senator Cory Booker in the general election.
