Pro-life New Jerseyans descend on Trenton, demand a voice in one of America’s most abortion-friendly states

TRENTON, N.J. – New Jersey’s pro-life movement isn’t going quietly into the night, Save Jerseyans.

Hundreds of pro-life advocates gathered in Trenton on Thursday for the 2026 New Jersey March for Life, rallying outside the State House before marching through the capital to deliver a message to the Garden State’s overwhelmingly pro-abortion Democratic establishment.

Organized by March for Life and New Jersey Right to Life, the October 8 event featured an 11 a.m. rally followed by a noon march. Participants included families, students, clergy, and activists advocating for the protection of unborn children.

Among the scheduled speakers were New Jersey Right to Life Executive Director Marie Tasy, Senate Republican Leader Anthony Bucco, Assembly Republican Leader John DiMaio, and Bishop Kevin Sweeney of the Diocese of Paterson.

The day’s activities also included the New Jersey Bishops’ Mass for Life.

The annual demonstration comes as New Jersey remains among the nation’s most permissive states regarding abortion.

Former Governor Phil Murphy signed the Freedom of Reproductive Choice Act in January 2022, expanding statutory protections for abortion access. Democrats have continued to fanatically prioritize those “protections” while largely resisting Republican efforts to impose additional restrictions.

For New Jersey’s pro-life community, however, the fight extends beyond the State House.

Advocates continue to promote adoption, pregnancy resource centers, assistance for expectant mothers, and policies intended to make choosing life a realistic option for women facing difficult circumstances.

Thursday’s march also served as a reminder that, notwithstanding the Democratic Party’s dominance in Trenton, significant numbers of New Jerseyans continue to reject the state’s prevailing approach to abortion.

Whether their message translates into legislative victories anytime soon is another question entirely.

With Democrats controlling the governor’s office and both legislative chambers, meaningful changes to New Jersey’s abortion laws face steep political obstacles.

But the marchers aren’t waiting for permission from Trenton to make their voices heard.

And in a state where Democratic politicians routinely invoke compassion, dignity, and human rights, pro-life advocates are asking a question that seldom receives much attention under the Gold Dome:

What about the unborn?
