Somerset and Burlington counties have Republican governments but hardly ‘safe’ electorates in presidential cycles given Democrat voter registration trends.

Nothing about tonight seems likely to change that.
In Somerset County, Republican Sheriff Frank Provenzano leads Democratic challenger Darrin Russo by a little less than 300 votes as of this writing. Meanwhile, Patricia “Pat” Walsh held back a Democrat challenge by about 5-points.
Meanwhile, in Burlington County, all Republican county-wide candidates appeared on track to win by roughly 6,000 votes a piece.
It’s all great news for the local parties and a big win for GOP consultant Chris Russell, the mastermind of big races in both counties.
