The campaign of former pastor and developer Phil Rizzo says it raised $160,000 during 2022’s first quarter.
“That number speaks volumes about our momentum,” the NJ-07 GOP candidate said “This is a campaign of the people, who are ready to take back our Congress. We’ve had enough of the status quo, Leftist extremism, and a weak Republican establishment.”
Rizzo started out the cycle eyeing the NJ-11 nomination before redistricting shifted NJ-07 to the right and the 11th to the left. According to the campaign, it raised $55,000 before raising money for a bid in the 7th district around January 12th.
Meanwhile, NJ-07 Republican frontrunner Tom Kean Jr. (who also happens to have all of the county lines) posted a monster $840,000 sum for the first quarter.
Embattled Democrat incumbent Tom Malinowski raised over $1 million.
Other GOP hopefuls still in the contest include public works contractor Kevin Dorlon, first-time candidate John Henry Isemann, Assemblyman Erik Peterson, and Navy veteran Sterling Irwin Schwab.
