Booker making rare South Jersey appearance for nervous Gloucester Democrats

I frankly didn’t know Cory Booker (D-Twitter) could find Gloucester County on a map, Save Jerseyans!

Sure enough, Spartacus himself will be making a special guest appearance tonight (October 28th) in Paulsboro to rally South Jersey Democrats ahead of a critical Election Day (see below).

Paulsboro is a Democrat stronghold in increasingly red Gloucester County, New Jersey. Last year, the GOP picked up two commissioner seats and the sheriff’s office. This year, Republicans can take control for the first time in a generation.

It’s also worth noting that Congressman Donald Norcross (D, NJ-1), whose seat has been solidly Democrat since Jim Florio took it away from John Hunt after Watergate, is actually spending money on ads this year. NJ-01 includes large portions of Glouco including Paulsboro.

Does he actually think he’s in danger from a surging Claire Gustafson? Or is it simply a matter of trying to avoid an embarrassing margin? At the very least, I think Ed the Trucker spooked South Jersey Dems into not taking big races for granted in unfavorable political environments.

Booker remains reasonably popular in his own state party but hasn’t done well in presidential polling and doesn’t do much to motivate voters in red-and-purple territory especially in the middle of a “red wave.” Looking forward to hearing how it goes all the same! We know he’ll turn on the theatrics…
