Glassner wins Hunterdon’s U.S. Senate endorsement

The first line in this year’s GOP U.S. Senate primary is off the board.

On Wednesday night, Mendham Borough Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner won the Hunterdon County Republican line with 87 votes. The contest was arguably a geographic must-win for Glassner, a Morris County candidate who has the active support of Congressman Tom Kean Jr.

Cape May-based real estate tycoon Curtis Bashaw, a relative unknown who’s been in the race for only about two weeks, finished in a competitive second place with 54 votes while ex-News12 reporter Alex Zdan (who hasn’t yet officially entered the contest) finished third with 12 votes. No other candidate registered any votes at the first-in-the-state contest of 2024.

The ultimate winner of the NJGOP nomination will challenge the winner of the Democrat primary, either Congressman Andy Kim or Tammy Murphy. Twice-indicted Bob Menendez has yet to surrender his seat but is polling in the basement and is not expected to win renomination.
