A Rutgers University professor has reportedly fled to Europe with his family following a controversy over his apparent pro-Antifa views and writings.
Mark Bray, an RU History Department professor best known for his book “The Antifa Handbook,” cited alleged threats as the reason for relocating his family to Europe. The rest of his classes for the current semester will take place online.
“[M]y family and I do not feel safe in our home at the moment, we are moving for the year to Europe,” Bray explained in an email shared by a student on Reddit. Bray added that he had also received “another death threat and a separate threat that included my home address.” Over on Bluesky, Bray pointed a finger at “harassment from Turning Point USA, Jack Posobiec, Andy Ngo + Fox News.”
Ironically, Bray has defended the use of political violence in the past; in 2017, he told Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that “fascism cannot be defeated by speech.”
“You have a teacher that so often promotes political violence, especially in his book Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook, which talks about militant fascism, which is on term with political violence,” explained Megyn Doyle, a leader of the campus’s Turning Point chapter.
