Dr. Eck’s Undervalued Alternative to Obamacare

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

Dr. Alieta Eck remains one of the NJ GOP’s most undervalued assets, Save Jerseyans. She’s running for Congress in a tough district, it’s true, but her work in the health care industry through the groundbreaking Zarephath Health Center is truly inspiring. It’s also a tangible path forward for a Republican Party that’s often unfairly accused of being the “Party of No” where one of our era’s major political issues is concerned.

Our friends from Chasing New Jersey recently took a deeper look…

Obamacare Will Burst N.J. Benefits Bubble

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

CadillacGovernor Christie is on the Ocean City Music Pier today pushing for another sweeping round of public employee benefit reforms, Save Jerseyans.

It’s timely.

You know what the pension numbers look like because you’re a regular reader. That being said, our obnoxiously gigantic $40 billion in unfunded pension liabilities is eclipsed only by a public employee health benefit program that’s $47 billion in the red. What else could you expect from a state with roughly 81 government employees per square mile?

Great Obamacare News for Me, Bad for You!

By Irwin Fletcher | The Save Jersey Blog bart phone call

Did you see this, Save Jerseyans?

You don’t even have to be a real person to get Obamacare subsidies!

It’s being reported that the Government Accountability Office (an oxymoronic construction) successfully created fake people with fake documentation who obtained Obamacare subsidies and whose documents were “verified” by the exchanges or, in some cases, they didn’t even bother to look.

Turns out, “verified” actually means “the exchange assumes all applicants tell the truth and all documents are authentic unless it is blatantly obvious it’s a fake.” In fact, here is what the GOA says on the matter: CONTINUE READING….

Lance: SCOTUS Should Hear Subsidy Cases

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

LanceRep. Leonard Lance (NJ-07) responded to Tuesday’s circuit split over Obamacare’s exchange subsidies by calling on our nation’s highest tribunal to take up the question, Save Jerseyans.

“Today’s legal rulings are very consequential and undoubtedly will not be the last word on the matter,” Lance opined in a statement. “Millions of taxpayer funds have already been dedicated to these exchanges and now the market, insurers and consumers are left in limbo.  This is the exact reason why Congress should not pass thousand page bills without thorough analysis.  The Administration has consistently been forced to re-work, delay or completely ignore parts of the President’s law as it finds the statute unworkable.  The Supreme Court of the United States should review this matter in its coming term.”

Federal Appeals Court Decision’s N.J. Impact

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

Doctor

The beginning of the end for the individual and employer mandates?

Perhaps. The esteemed D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals made huge waves on Tuesday morning, Save Jerseyans, when a three-judge panel that the language of the (Un)affordable Care Act prevents states from providing subsidies to residents of states who declined to establish their own independent insurance marketplaces from the federal exchange.

Thirty-six of fifty U.S. states fall into that category including our own New Jersey. Governor Chris Christie repeatedly vetoes attempts by the Democrat legislature to establish a state-based exchange.

“It is implausible to believe that Congress gave the IRS discretion to authorize $150 billion per year in federal spending, particularly when Congress had directly spoken to this issue,” the Halbig v. Burwell plaintiffs successfully argued. “Major economic decisions like these — indeed, any decisions granting tax credits — must be made unambiguously by Congress itself.”

2nd Poll Finds Booker Under 50%

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

Booker-Corzine-Obama-and-Weinberg43% to Republican nominee Jeff Bell’s 23%, Save Jerseyans (click here to read the full report/data tables).

Here are some more details from Patrick Murray’s Monmouth Polling Institute:

“When asked whether Booker should be reelected, 44% of New Jersey voters say he deserves another term while 35% say it is time to have someone else in that Senate seat. Four months ago, a solid majority of 55% said that Booker should be reelected. The number of voters who say it is time for someone new, though, is basically the same as it was in February (33%). The shift in support for Booker has come from those who previously said he deserved reelection but now say they are unsure – 21%, up from 12% in February.”

Hobby Lobby Myths Obliterated

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

truthThere is sooo much bad information floating around concerning this week’s Hobby Lobby opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court, Save Jerseyans, that I couldn’t help but try to loudly and proudly dispel a few of the worst myths. Some of the Twitter comments weren’t just vile and dumb; they were symptomatic of a generation completely bereft of civics knowledge.

For a little further reading, the good folks over at NRO did a bang-up job of dissecting Justice Ginsburg’s dissent point-by-point; Hobby Lobby itself also devoted an entire website to clearing the air. Here are the broad strokes…

Myth #1: Hobby Lobby won’t cover female contraception.

Belgard’s Click and Paste Campaign

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

belgard click and pasteIf you thought that I was being too hard on Aimee Belgard and her dumbed-down CD3 campaign, Save Jerseyans… think again.

Not only is the first term Burlington County freeholder running on nothing but name-calling at present, ducking debate challenges and refusing to engage on substance but, as the national conservative outpost Hot Air just discovered, Belgard is proving to be anything but original.

Hot Air’s Jazz Shaw discovered that Belgard was one of (at least) three House Democrats who’ve recently blasted out the same paraphrased DNC talking points, pledging to reject “Congressional perks.” And when I say paraphrased, I mean virtually identical.

$$$ for Abortions But Nothing Else?

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

3 Month Old Baby in Womb

A human baby at 3 months living in the mother’s womb.

Here we go again, Save Jerseyans.

The Trenton ruling elite continue to flagrantly waste our money on all manner of ridiculousness, fail to meet important pension and transportation obligations without borrowing or raising tax/fees, can’t be bothered to return any of our tax dollars to us in the form of a modest tax cut, but somehow always summon the collective will and means to fund… abortion.

Yes, they’re sick puppies, and Senate Bill S784 is the Democrat caucus’s umpteenth attempt to restore $7.5 million in “family planning” funding vetoed annually by Governor Christie. No less distressing is Senate Bill S1203, legislation that would subsidize ObamaCare family planning for “non-pregnant” New Jerseyans living between the 138% and 200% federal poverty levels.

The Aging Congressional Gerontocracy

By Joe Sinagra | The Save Jersey Blog trading places

President Obama signed up for the “bronze” ObamaCare plan, Save Jerseyans, which is designed to promote enrollment which costs about $400 per month. Of course, there was no need for him to carry any healthcare plan at all since as Commander-in-Chief his coverage is provided by the military.

It was a PR stunt.

That’s still only the tip of the iceberg in terms of uncovering this law’s less-than-logical outcomes. Consider, for example, how roughly 23.6% of legislators are 65 years of age or older, with 47.9% of our nation’s state legislators age averaging between 50 and 64 years of age. CONTINUE READING….

AlietaCare: The Obamacare Alternative Conservatives Have Been Waiting For

By Jordan Rickards ConservativeOpinion.com

Alieta Eck

Alieta Eck

You likely have not heard of Dr. Alieta Eck. Don’t feel bad. She’s not the kind to seek the spotlight. Dr. Eck is a gentle soul, soft spoken, humble, and unassuming. She also has a great heart for charity, and this was undoubtedly the impetus behind her choice to study medicine in the first place, and later to found the Zarephath Health Center (ZHC), a free medical clinic which has provided quality healthcare for the poor and uninsured for over a decade. The ZHC operates out of a 5,000 square foot building (an old schoolhouse that was not being used), the inside of which has been converted into five exam rooms and three intake rooms. It is open four days per week, and is staffed entirely by volunteers.

There is a lot wrong with America today. People like Dr. Eck are what is right.

Why Aren’t We Promoting This Pair?

Update

You can tell I’m already in MDW vacation mode, Save Jerseyans, because I forgot to mention Anthony Wilkinson (R-NJ06) in this post, a prominent Central Jersey black attorney who is taking on Frank “Monkey Court” Pallone this cycle. I met him several weeks ago and he’s VERY impressive. We’ll be talking more about all three candidates in the coming months… you can bet on it…

Original Post

There’s sooo much wrong with the New Jersey Republican Party right now, Save Jersey, not the least of which is the lack of ability (or will?) to transition to promoting candidates of tomorrow as the Christie years march/stumble/slide – depending on your perspective – to an inevitable conclusion.

Obamacare: Big $$$ for NJ Convicts

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

Prison FenceAs if you needed another reason to loathe the (Un)affordable Care Act, Save Jerseyans, go ahead and try this one on for size: Hudson County is suing for retroactive reimbursement reflecting the cost of… get ready for it… inmate long-term hospital care.

How? Here’s an explanation of the little-known Obamacare exemption from the Jersey Journal:

Generally, no inmate in state prisons or county jails had been eligible for Medicaid coverage for long-term hospital care until the Affordable Care Act established a “24-hour exemption,” said executive director of the New Jersey Association of Counties John Donnadio.
