Steve Sweeney’s recent behavior is casting serious doubt on his fitness to run a lemonade stand let alone lead the New Jersey State Senate, Save Jerseyans.
Just consider his latest head scratcher. Yesterday afternoon, he huddled with the Courier-Post editorial board in Cherry Hill (Camden County) to vent about this year’s budget process and other topical issues. One comment in particular stood out for all the wrong reasons:
“If you’re running for higher office this is the perfect budget,” Sweeney said. “You had the courage to cut these tough programs, the ones that really pull at your heartstrings.”
You’ve got it backwards, Senator. Allow me to state it plainly: Union goons who hurl obscenities when they can’t win an argument on the merits are behaving in a hyper-political manner; U.S. Presidents who storm out of meetings like children and vacillate to the point of absurdity are acting in a hyper-political fashion; U.S. Senators who throw hissy fits when their party’s position is challenged in a straightforward and effective way are… you guessed it – hyper-political.
How exactly do Chris Christie’s mature, responsible and sometimes unpopular budgeting decisions indicate a hyper-political posture? It’s a counterintuitive claim that defies logic.
Except, of course, in the warped mind of a career politician pursuing his own designs on higher office! Does that sound like anyone you know, Senator Sweeney?
Dear Mr. Sweeney
I guess you have decided that the rest of the state that ISN'T in the NJEA
doesn't matter & you have decided to fall in lock step with the mandates
they order or are against! You have decided to block any reforms wanted by
Governor Christie because you want to play politics! I thought you had more
integrity but I guess the NJEA owns you & you will do what they tell you.
You have the Gaul to call Republicans puppets because they follow Gov
Christie who is trying to clean up the mess mostly caused by your party: who
is the puppet now? The irony is the reforms requested are being considered
by the NEA as well as other states but the greedy, arrogant NJEA refuses to
give an inch! I hope you & the rest of your party can deal with the anger of the rest of
the NON UNION tax paying public come November!
