Rumors: Camden City to Give Its Police Force to Camden COUNTY Tonight?

Been hearing rumors today that Camden City will be handing the control of its police force over to Camden County tonight.

As some of you will remember, Camden County is being pressed to have every municipality consolidate their police forces in the name of shared services and cost savings. While I am normally all for shared services, the idea of sacrificing local safety and bailing Camden City out once again is not something I can get behind, no matter how hard the Governor pushes for it. This type of plan might work in some other counties, but the place to test it out should not be in the county that holds one of the most dangerous cities in the United States.

Apparently I am not the only person hearing the rumors, as my Facebook newsfeed just showed this coming blip from the Camden County Republican Committee:

“Rumors have been swirling for sometime of the County Freeholders AKA Dems will take over the city of Camden police force. Word has been passed that tonight a meeting of elected officials for the City of Camden Meeting the city will be requesting the county to take over the police after hiring a Police Director. Let’s hope this does not happen.”

Keep it here for updates…
