New Jersey Minorities Have Real Choices in 2011

Jersey City

Chris Christie walked away with only 26% of the vote there back in 2009.

But two years makes quite a difference, Save Jerseyans… perhaps even in deep blue Hudson County?

The fabled birthplace of Frank Sinatra is, appropriately, still one of America’s most ethnically diverse counties. It’s also one of the most economically distressed with an unemployment rate of almost 11%. This finding is consistent with national trends. According to the U.S. Labor Department, African American unemployment is now around 16.7% and Hispanic joblessness has climbed to 11.7%; by contrast, “white” unemployment (utilizing the census designation here) is relatively lower at 8%. If you take Hoboken’s legions of 20 and 30-something young professionals out of the equation and consider those who have simply stopped job hunting, then I suspect Hoboken’s “real” unemployment rate is much, much higher.

Look at the numbers. It’s clear Barack Obama’s domestic regimen of expensive stimuli, class warfare and crony capitalism haven’t helped Hudson County residents in the slightest. Neither has a decade’s worth of Democrat-controlled legislatures in Trenton.

Then consider Fernando Uribe, a Young Republican running uphill to win an assembly seat in Hudson’s LD 33, a dark blue district encompassing Guttenberg, Hoboken, Jersey City, Union City, Weehawken, West New York. This is Brian Stack Machine Country. Winning won’t be easy. But Fernando is out there all the same, pounding the pavement and articulating a conservative message to his district’s economically-battered voters:

I’ll be watching closely on November 8th to see how Fernando does, Save Jerseyans.

Like Herman Cain, Marco Rubio, Allen West, and a rapidly growing chorus of prominent Republican minority politicians, Fernando is living proof that ALL citizens DO have real choices in American elections.

The reason is obvious, don’t you think? One party is serious about education reform, economic liberty, and expanding the American Dream to anyone with the guts to go for it. The other, led by President Obama, will attempt to cling to power by dividing the country just as Governor Christie predicted last week. Their’s is a cynical, condescending strategy.

So I say ‘thank God for choices.’ Hudson voters can find out more about their own choice by visiting www.uribeforassembly.com.
