‘OPERATION: Take Back the State House’ Continues in Battleground LD7

The War for Trenton continues this Sunday, Save Jerseyans.

Your intrepid Blogger-in-Chief will travel north on Route 130 to visit with Mount Laurel Mayor Jim Keenan and businessman Chris Halgas, GOP candidates for State Assembly in the 7th Legislative District, as they furiously campaign with just two full weeks left before Election Day.

LD7 is a middle class, lean-Democrat suburban district right outside of Philadelphia. The District’s Senator, Diane Allen, is incredibly popular with voters and has tremendous name recognition from her years on Philly TV. Nevertheless, she’s consistently co-represented LD7 with Democrat colleagues affiliated with George Norcross’s vast South Jersey political machine. The NJGOP is hoping a combination of taxpayer angst and Allen’s star power can help propel two Republicans into legislative office there and buoy the party’s outnumbered Trenton caucus.

Everyone I talk to on the inside says there’s an excellent chance of victory. We’ll pick the candidates’ brains about it as well as other relevant topics. Check back on Monday morning for the full video.

In the interim, you can visit the ticket’s Facebook page HERE or their official website HERE.

  1. Matt: At least you should get your candidates' names right. It's CHRIS Halgas, not Kevin. Perhaps you should ask Mayor Keenan why he flip-flopped on the 2% property tax cap.

  2. To clarify:

I was at a meeting last March at the Mount Laurel community center where Keenan was promoting a referendum to override the 2% cap. He said it would increase the budget by $3 million and increase taxes $168 for the average homeowner. He predicted dire consequences if the referendum were not approved including police and other layoffs, closing the senior center, getting rid of the senior bus, closing some parks, and transferring the library to the county. Then, all of a sudden, his proposal for a referendum went away. How come?

  3. Dear Jim, You gotta be kidding!!! It seems to me that I've been hearing how Vince Palestina was a crook for the last four or five months. Now, when he reacted to your mud, you are accusing him of slinging mud. Any candidate who campaigns in the negative like you are doing, does not deserve to win. I was a teacher, too. I have doubts that you volunteered to reduce your salary by one third. You probably had to give it back, given the current trend.
