Priming the Christie Pump

Patrick Murray has a good article up on Politicker about the NJ and national media’s frenzy over the Christie rumors. I think it’s probably important to note that the blogosphere was actually probably more in control of their emotions than the media and didn’t write too many “He’s running!” posts. We here at SaveJersey reported the press’ breathlessness and reported some polls but I think we were all fairly of the same mindset here that Christie wasn’t running. My friend Seth at Commentary even asked a more important question – what if Christie runs and loses?

Basically the reason for the press’ fervor was that they needed a new toy to play with and beat up because the 2012 field isn’t as great as they want it to be. They should have taken more sources on the record and been more responsible in discussing Christie’s motivations and decisions. Sometimes ‘no means no’ and the question should have been, in my mind, not ‘will he get in’ but ‘why should he change his mind and run’.

Ultimately, Christie has probably made a smart choice here. His 2013 re-election will be bitter because the DGA and union groups will smear him and spend more than his opponent ever will. If the GOP doesn’t win in 2012 then 2016 will be a good opportunity and Christie can even wait till 2020 if necessary (he will lose his natural momentum though). But more importantly, NJ gets stuck with Christie for at least 2 more years.

  1. Her sexual fulfillment should consider priority over your requirements and
she’ll appreciate your attempts. It will be interesting to see the turnout at every and how many go to the
    non-school event.
