Analysis on Southern Democrat Hopefuls for 2013

South Jersey Magazine has an interesting article this month that highlights some of the top prospects for the South Jersey Democrat Machine in next years Democrat Gubernatorial Primary contest.

The article focuses only South Jersey Democrats (but thats not the fault of the author, since he does write for South Jersey Magazine after all). If I were to make a bet now, I would place my money on a northern contender, most likely Senator Barbara Buono, who is briefly mentioned at the end.

This piece concentrates on three key individuals down here: Senate President Steve Sweeney, Assembly Majority Leader Lou Greenwald, and Congressman Rob Andrews. It runs through their strengths and weaknesses while quoting analysis from Jay Lassiter from Blue Jersey, Chris Russell, a popular consultant in South Jersey, and yours truly.

Of course, the joke of the whole thing is that none of these guys, or anyone else, will be taking down Governor Christie next year. But its fun to speculate right?

Check out the article, and as usual, leave comments below.

  1. Interesting article, Brian, although I have to confess I first thought of Zell Miller challenging Obama when I saw the headline.

I think Cory Booker would be formidable; Rob Andrews is likely a career Congressman only. Speaking of which, any word on a COP challenger to him?
