VIDEO: Christie Visits CATO; Says Milton Friedman’s “Genius was Truly Developed and Nurtured on the Banks of the Raritan River”

As we previously reported here at Save Jersey, Governor Chris Christie (R-NJ) visited the CATO Institute on Friday evening in Washington, D.C. to deliver the keynote address at CATO’s annual Milton Friedman award dinner.

His theme: how conservative stewardship is turning around a state that endured over 115 tax increases and 0% job growth in the decade preceding his election.

Governor Christie also kept it light as he’s prone to do, remarking at one point that legendary economist and classical liberal hero Milton Friedman was originally a Rutgers New Brunswick alum whose  “genius was truly developed and nurtured on the banks of the Raritan River.” Friedman was actually born in Brooklyn, New York but grew up in Rahway, New Jersey before studying mathematics at RU.

Needless to say, Governor Christie’s audience ate it up. Are you surprised?
