Pascrell & Rothman Bicker Over Who is the Bigger Spending Failure

Sometimes this is what happens when you make a single district too strong for one party or another. While the national debate, even among many Democrats, is focused on way to cut spending and begin to shrink the deficit and debt, the two career politicians vying to represent the new, solidly blue 9th district are bickering over who brings home more bacon for New Jersey taxpayers. The only place you’d see a debate on who wants to spend more would have to be a Democrat primary in a gerrymandered district.

The saddest and more ironic thing about this debate? Both Rothman and Pascrell are terrible at it anyway! At least compared to representatives nationwide.

According to the Tax Foundation (click the graphic to get a better look), New Jersey brings home on 61 cents per every dollar that we sent to Washington, DC. That is the worst in the nation. By comparison, states like New Mexico being home as much as $2.03 for every dollar their taxpayers send.

Rothman and Pascrell each claim to have brought home a few billion dollars for their former districts. However, further research seems to suggest that both are inflating their numbers with things like Pell Grants, earmarks (which are now banned from legislation), and money from defense contracts that would have gone to the district anyway.

Sometimes I feel like it truly is a shame that both these two cannot lose.

  1. Well, what do you expect from socialism. As far as wanting both of them to lose…I hope the vote is so close, they have to recount and end up spending time and money in court….Thats pretty close to having them both lose.
