Getting Worse All of the Time

I want you to tell me what’s wrong with this paragraph from a Reuters “news” story, Save Jerseyans, discussing the President’s frankly tyrannical immigration decision:

It allowed Obama, whose administration has faced criticism from some Hispanic groups for deporting about 400,000 illegal immigrants a year, to draw a sharp contrast between himself and Republican Mitt Romney, his opponent in the election. Romney, in trying to appeal to his party’s most conservative voters, has taken a harsh stance against illegal immigration.”

“Harsh stance,” Reuters?

Really?

The Fourth Estate is getting worse all of the time, straying further and further from their traditional mission to “report” the news. Some of it is undoubtedly subconscious; each of us has a unique worldview which shapes the way in which we interpret current events. But if you become a reporter, then you’re duty-bound to transmit facts to your audience with a minimal level of bias.

When you refer to a candidate’s immigration position as “harsh,” then you’ve clearly crossed the line from reporter to commentator.

Without national websites like NewsBusters and state-based blogs like Save Jersey, it’d be impossible to hear any print perspective untainted by liberal bais.

Shame on Reuters for letting this story go to print as-is.

  1. Obama spends a lot of time at fundraisers with the elite. The reason we have so much illegal immigration is because of the superior political power of those who favor illegal immigration such as the elite who want cheap labor to cut the grass and do domestic chores versus those who have lost their jobs because of such immigration. GWB was just as bad on this issue.

  2. Hmmm…. Well, 1) Of course Obama (JUST LIKE ANY OTHER POLITICIAN) spends time party-ing it up with the elite. Like most politicians, they SHOULD be able o take money from someone and vote against them the next day. That's how the cookie crumbles in D.C.2)The problem with illegal immigration started with the Bush administration. I could write a whole Doctoral Dissertation on the issue…. But essentially, Obama needs to be "less harsh" than conservatives, because Obama needs the support of Hispanics. In addition, there was an interesting article by Politico about how certain "newspapers" are either overwhelmingly conservative or overwhelmingly liberal. Again, that's how the cookie crumbles in the world of political media.
