@GovChristie on ObamaCare Decision: “Supreme Court is Confirming What We Knew All Along”

The Big Guy isn’t pleased, Save Jerseyans.

And being the master politician that he is, Governor Chris Christie focused on the tax/policy implications instead of the unconstitutionality of the legislation itself (Christie is engaged in his own tax battle with the state legislature, for those of you who haven’t been paying attention to NJ politics lately):

I’ve been clear from the very beginning that I do not believe a one-size-fits-all health care program works for the entire country and that each governor should have the ability to make decisions about what works best for their state. Today’s Supreme Court decision is disappointing and I still believe this is the wrong approach for the people of New Jersey who should be able to make their own judgments about health care. Most importantly, the Supreme Court is confirming what we knew all along about this law – it is a tax on middle class Americans.”

Obama denied it was a tax. The his legal team admitted it before the High Court. And what a tax it is! For example, an American couple with one child over 18 and no coverage would pay at least $285 in 2014, $975 in 2015 and $2,085 by 2016.

Governor Christie had been criticized by conservative groups for refusing to join the ObamaCare lawsuit. He did, however, earn well-deserved kudos last month for vetoing New Jersey’s own attempt at establishing healthcare exchange legislation.
