Runyan Takes to Facebook For Ryan Reaction

The Jersey comments on todays VP decision continue to roll in. Paul Ryan is undoubtedly one of the most popular policy heavyweights in the GOP, and the encouraging endorsements from politicos across the spectrum in the Republican Party give an honest picture of the excitement Ryan is going to bring to this ticket.

After Scott Garrett weighed in this morning, Congressman Jon Runyan took to Facebook to express his support for the new ticket and for Ryan in general, commenting specifically on his interaction with him during his first term in office.

During my brief time in Congress, I have seen firsthand what a smart, serious and solutions-oriented leader Paul Ryan is and I am proud to call him my friend. Governor Romney knows that we cannot continue down the irresponsible path of raising taxes on working families, small businesses and seniors to pay for the runaway spending and borrowing of career politicians in Washington.

I strongly support his decision to pick Congressman Ryan and look forward to working with them to end business as usual in Washington and bring about the economic and fiscal reforms we need to create jobs and balance the budget.

Runyan is involved in what is widely considered to be the most competitive NJ districts in this years election, a notion I find to be somewhat overstated. If anything, a solid endorsement of Ryan as the VP shows the strength that the Runyan campaign has behind them this year and reflects the fiscally conservative backbone of the 3rd district. In a competitive district, such a ringing endorsement could be considered risky. Not here.
