The Moment Our World Changed (VIDEO)

Exactly eleven years ago this minute (9/11/01, 8:46 a.m.), Save Jerseyans, our world changed forever. And that’s not just a lazy cliché intended to convey substance where none otherwise exists. It’s a real, tangible fact of life that becomes more evident with every passing year.

I was only a junior in high school on that fateful day; frankly, with the passage of time and upon considering everything that’s transpired over the past decade (wars, recessions, elections, three summer olympics games, etc.), I’m willing to bet that most members of my generation cannot clearly recall what pre-9/11 America looked like. On September 11, 2001, I sure wasn’t thinking about Middle Eastern geopolitics or the constitutionality of TSA searches (the TSA didn’t exist yet). I was just another high school kid, contemplating lunch, dreading my first fall pre-calculus class, and thinking about my weekend plans when a distressed teacher rushed into my home room and turned on our television set…

  1. Before you buy your basketball shoes; measure your feet if it's been awhile since you bought shoes. The average child will outgrow their shoes quickly. Actually your feet may continue to change even when you are an adult. Any store that sells basketball shoes will be able to offer exact measurements of your feet. There should not be any sense of a loose or insecure fit when you try your basketball shoes on. You want to have some breathing room, but you don't want your foot to slide around in the shoe at all.

  2. If you haven't measured your shoe size recently, it's a good idea to do so before buying a pair of basketball shoes. Given the fact that kids bodies are constantly changing; their shoe size does as well. Actually your feet may continue to change even when you are an adult. When you purchase your basketball shoes in an athletic supply store, they will have the capability to measure your feet before you buy. When trying on basketball shoes, you want them to fit snugly but not to tightly. If your shoe fits loosely in any way you need to keep looking.
