Don’t Wait for Liberals to Credit Christie for Unemployment Drop

“Good” news, Save Jerseyans.

The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development announced today that our state added 1,100 private sector jobs last month. We also shed 2,300 public sector workers, most of whom were municipal or county employees, but this report brings New Jersey’s net job gain between September 2011 and September 2012 to 41,600.

Now why am I putting “good” in quotation marks? Because we’re being fair. The President’s painfully incremental downward ticks at the national level are unimpressive for similar reasons. It’s simply not enough jobs, and the only reason we’re seeing a dropping rate is due to other variables including folks who are simply surrendering and not filing for unemployment.

The material difference between O and CJC? Who deserves blame! Look at their policies… and circumstances. Both men inherited recessions. What they did to improve or exacerbate those downtruns is appropriate inquiry. Christie hasn’t enjoyed a single year with a cooperative legislature (unlike Obama, who had 2 years before they overreached and got bounced at the polls). And Trenton Democrats aren’t just blocking measures to make the state more affordable for job creators, which would be a crime of omission; they’re actively finding new ways to make it MORE expensive. It’s egregious. Voters need to act accordingly next fall.

Keeping all of that in mind, folks, liberals have glowingly hailed President Obama’s September 2012 report when the unemployment rate (not the real one) ticked down a mere 0.3, from 8.1% to 7.8%. Christie just achieved a similarly modest 0.1 drop. If they were consistent/fair/honest, my liberal friends would congratulate the Governor for achieving “good” progress.” By their own calculus.

Anyone want to bet on what the chances of that are? Probably the same odds as yours truly re-registering as a Democrat.
