Newark Mayor Cory Booker has made a habit of rescuing everyone and everything (most recently a freezing dog) except for the one thing that he’s actually charged with saving: the City of Newark!
Frank Lautenberg’s 100% right on that point, Save Jerseyans. Even a broken (and in this case, ancient) clock is right twice per day.
And guess what else? He’s not the only prominent politician with a superhero streaks. Just don’t expect to hear about Virginia’s AG Ken Cuccinelli‘s rescue of a driver from a burning truck on your nightly national news broadcast. He’s a conservative Republican running for high office in 2013; the mainstream media doesn’t fawn over GOP heroes!

Cuccinelli could use the good press.
Unlike New Jersey’s gubernatorial race where Chris Christie maintains a clear early lead, this year’s Virginia statewide contest is expected to remain a nail biter right through the end. The latest public poll shows the sometimes controversial Cuccinelli locked in a dead heat with his presumptive Democrat opponent, former DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe.
Welcome to the “new normal,” folks. Formerly red Virginia is now a classic swing state. The current governor is a term-limited conservative Republican. Last fall, the Old Dominion went for Barack Obama by less than 4-points.
