200 Supporters Gather for Weekend Balles Event in Heart of LD2

Who cares if the November election is still over 8 months away?
Approximately 200 Frank Balles supporters came out to Chickie’s and Pete’s in Egg Harbor Township on a cold and gray afternoon to support a key player in the NJGOP’s efforts to recapture the State Senate from Democrats in 2013.
I’m not surprised by the enthusiastic response. GOP base enthusiasm is high in what they’re calling the “Christie year,” and today’s event is characteristic of what’s looking like an aggressive campaign that has already gone after incumbent Democrat Jim Whelan on jobs, the economy, and even his involvement in the Miss America pageant leaving Atlantic City before its triumphant return announced earlier this week.
“It is unfortunate that our current State Senator failed to provide that leadership in 2005 when he voted to allow the pageant to leave Atlantic City,” Balles said in a press release. “I am happy that the Lt. Governor stepped forward and did what was necessary to bring the Miss America pageant back to Atlantic City — it’s home and where it belongs. I look forward to bringing more economic progress, high-profile events, and business enterprise back to Atlantic City.”
