Ron Paul: Still a Jerk!

Chief Paulbot Responds to SEAL’s Tragic Death By Tweeting “He Who Lives By the Sword Dies by the Sword”

Ron PaulI don’t like Ron Paul, Save Jerseyans. Never have. He’s a selfish, petty, nasty jerk, and I’ve said so on more than one occasion.

Dr. Paul validates my dark opinion of him every time he opens his mouth. Or in this case, tweets! Check out this whopper from Monday afternoon; he was responding to the alleged murder of Navy SEAL war hero Chris Kyle at a Texas shooting range:

Classy, Ron!

But remember: we’re not witnessing an isolated incident. This is the same jerk who said the 9/11/01 attacks engendered “glee” in the Bush Administration. You might even be able to forgive his bizarre worldview were it not for his inability to apologize when he’s wrong.

Case in point, here’s his walk back that wasn’t from the tweet above

As a veteran, I certainly recognize that this weekend’s violence and killi!ng of Chris Kyle were a tragic and sad event. My condolences and prayers go out to Mr. Kyle’s family. Unconstitutional and unnecessary wars have endless unintended consequences. A policy of non-violence, as Christ preached, would have prevented this and similar tragedies. -REP

See? Crazy!

Let’s clear the air for the benefit of newer readers: I’m no neoconservative.

George Will once compared nation building to “orchid building” and I think that’s about right, at least when you’re dealing with cultures harboring prehistoric values. The respective cultures of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan were diseased inside and out by the 1930s. Both societies were nevertheless fundamentally modern societies by the time our GI’s arrived armed with Browning Automatic Rifles and melting chocolate bars. There’s simply no comparison to a “country” like Afghanistan.

But I’m much more concerned by isolationism, Save Jerseyans, precisely because we’ve seen it lead to world wars within the memories of many living Americans… perhaps just not enough Americans to for our electorate to fully appreciate why Paul’s “non-interventionist” views are so dangerous.

The retreat of a super power (e.g. the British Empire’s post-WWI decline) always results in periods of widespread chaos and greater bloodshed than had the mature, regulating power remained in place. The world was better off for having the benefit of Britain’s deepwater navy and constitutional tradition for nearly two centuries of dominance. Likewise, our planet is a more peaceful (and prosperous) place thanks to U.S. aircraft carriers and stealth bombers.

Put all of this into the context of President Obama’s inglorious global retreat and corresponding spikes in unrest overseas. Ron Paul’s voice could’ve been a welcome addition to the opposition in Election 2012. Instead, he decided to verbally snipe at his fellow Republicans after having taken his ball and ran home. Selfish, stupid and thoroughly counterproductive behavior.

I said it before and now I’ll say it again: good riddance!
