Not Much Makes Sense When Your Safety is Outsourced
By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog
You may’ve heard by now that beginning April 25th, “the Transportation Security Administration will allow knives 2.36 inches and smaller, on board aircraft.”
You can click here for a current list of TSA prohibited items. I’m sure you’re familiar with most of’em, Save Jerseyans, if you’ve flown anywhere in the past decade!
Flight attendants are enraged by the proposed change. I don’t blame them; their job can be difficult enough when a passenger loses it without knives entering into the equation. Although it’s definitely worth pointing out that the box cutters utilized by the 9/11’s terrorist hijackers weren’t permitted on board before the September 11th attacks…
Hold the phone… criminal/terrorists/wackos use weapons that aren’t legal in substance or context to perpetrate their dastardly deeds? Shocker!
Meanwhile, 30,000 feet closer to sea level here in New Jersey, Assembly Democrats have passed 22 separate gun control measures that, if picked up by the Senate and signed by Governor Christie, would effectively roll back the efforts of certain schools districts to introduce armed guards in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre.
How? By advancing the ridiculous notion that “gun free school zones” prevent criminals/terrorists/wackos from introducing them.
So let’s break this down. Say a hypothetical flight attendant lives in Newark, New Jersey. Her passengers (potentially bad people) can bring knives into her airplane’s cabin? But the New Jersey school where her children attempt to learn and play won’t be able to arm select trained teachers or hire a retired veterans to serve as an armed guard?
You have to wonder how/why anyone retains any faith in our central planners…
Columbine had an armed guard. Virginia Tech had its own police force. Ft. Hood is a military base.
