Departing GOP County Chairman Prepares to Focus on General Assembly Race

Gloucester County Freeholder Larry Wallace (R) won’t seek another term as head of his country’s Republican Party.
In an email to Glouco GOP’ers, Wallace reminded the faithful that he had always only planned “to fill in the unexpired term of the previous Chairman and had no intentions of running for Chairman again in 2013.” Freeholder Wallace replaced William Fey in June 2012; at the moment, Wallace is running for an Assembly seat in Steve Sweeney’s LD3. The outgoing Chairman did, however, state his clear successor preference:
Kevin Murphy and Phyllis Martin have expressed their intent to run for Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Gloucester County Republican Party. With Governor Christie at the top of the ticket, there is no doubt in my mind their team will maintain the two Republican freeholder seats as well as pick up numerous seats throughout the county.”
The State Party considers Gloucester a key swing county; Christie carried the Senate President’s home county of nearly 290,000 residents by 2,749 votes in 2009.
