Bound Brook Mayor Resigns

By Nicole Sanders | The Save Jersey Blog

Carey PilatoCarey Pilato, Mayor of Bound Brook (Somerset County), is resigning effective December 31st citing family issues.

He posted the following message on Facebook:

I do so before my term is complete recognizing that my family and work-life must now become a higher priority for my attention and consideration. I enjoyed serving as a councilman in 1998, and then from 2005 – 2007. I was humbled by the residents to have been twice elected as Mayor of Bound Brook. My service to my community will not end, as I will always be available to lend my counsel on any matters that will move Bound Brook forward.
The agenda and future for Bound Brook is now very bright due to better fiscal management, flood control completion, and large economic developments in town that are occurring and ones that are on the very near horizon. Bound Brook has become a shining example of a true community that has come together time and time again. I will forever be so proud of how much we were able to accomplish while at the same time being mindful of the burden on our taxpayers. The challenges for our community will continue to be many, but as in the past, the Bound Brook community will continue roll up her sleeves and rise above it all and continue to show the way.

In the last year or so, Save Jerseyans, I have had the pleasure of becoming good friends with Mayor Pilato. He has helped not only my business in Bound Brook but a lot of other businesses and people alike.

Mayor Pilato is a genuine and hardworking man who always had the best interests of Bound Brook residents in mind. Part of his legacy as mayor will be working with the council and builders to erect new apartment buildings along the Main Street, controlling the flooding which has tormented the town for decades, passing the Landlord Animal House law which has helped clean up the streets, and much more.

We wish him well in his future endeavors.
