Goldberg Wins Somerset Line

somerset89 for Brian Goldberg and 55 for Murray Sabrin, Save Jerseyans, after two ballots at Tuesday night’s convention.

Only Goldberg, Sabrin and Rich Pezzullo were in attendance among the 5-candidate field.

Brian Goldberg has now claimed the county lines in Somerset, Ocean, Atlantic, Cumberland, Mercer, Passaic, and Essex counties, giving him a formidable base of support heading into the June Primary.

  1. Matt – there’s a reason CD2 is sooo big – pieces of no less than 8 counties. Essex mattered – Somerset matters. The rest added together don’t give the R voting population of Monmouth, The good news for Goldberg is that the most populous counties are D country – so the total ballots cast in June will be a footrace, where he certainly has a headstart. There’s a difference between 8 bricks and three cinderblocks.

  2. All 3 candidates did very well, and the first ballot was exceedingly close. I feel bad for the people of Somerset-they had a very tough choice to make. Most of Pezzullo’s votes carried to Goldberg, and he won the day.

  3. Ocean and Atlantic matter quite a bit, too, especially the former considering its size, track record, and the reality of a competitive primary. Ocean will be turning out voters in droves which could make the difference for Goldberg. We shall see…
