I’m here at Royal Albert Hall in Edison (Middlesex) chatting with committee members and watching the program unfold; early on, Sabrin surrogates were feeling bullish about their chances here today as they battle for the U.S. Senate line in one of the state’s most populous counties.
They had reason to be optimistic; the professor of finance won solidly on a second ballot:
Pezzulo – 39
Turk – 60
Sabrin – 104
Meanwhile, in Monmouth County, Rich Pezzullo captured his second county line with a victory over Murray Sabrin by about 50 votes…
Stay tuned for updates…
Goldberg didn’t make either second ballot? Dang, this race just got a lot more interesting.
Goldberg made a smart ass comment to start off his speech. It wasn’t well received and only reinforced the image that he is not a nice guy. Seriously, this is NOT going to come down to who won the most lines. With so many running, it’s going to come down to name recognition and GOTV capability. Slight edge to Sabrin over Pezzullo.
Sorry, meant to say Goldberg made that comment at the Monmouth Convention
Couldn’t agree more – I heard boos during Goldberg’s “Should I shout?” remark. He used to be such a nice guy and apparently his frontrunner status turned him cold. That frontrunner status is now gone, with a last-place finish in Middlesex and a third-place finish in Monmouth, this is anybody’s ball game.
It should raise huge red flags in the minds of Republicans statewide that Goldberg is criticizing one of his colleagues for being passionate. If he doesn’t like high energy, how does he expect to beat Booker?
Is this the one where anybody can vote provided they are registered GOP and buy a ticket?
