Rep. Frank LoBiondo, a close long-time ally of Cumberland County Chairman Bob Greco, is calling on the GOP Chairman to step aside on Tuesday morning following a report in the Vineland Daily Journal that Greco had been charged with “theft by failure to make required disposition.”

“I was shocked to learn about the alleged actions of Bob Greco as reported in the press today,” the Congressman said in a statement. “Due to the seriousness of the charges, it is only appropriate that Bob resign his chairmanship of the Cumberland County Regular Republican Organization.”

Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor is alleging that Greco improperly took $149,000 from a retirement home patient.

LoBiondo is seeking reelection in 2014 and he’s grappling with this development only days after concluding an 8-county kick-off bus tour.

  1. For a Republican, stealing money is always an impeachable offense; for a Democrat, it seems to be a mandatory resume enhancement.
