  1. A better shot at PIPELINE APPROVAL? Do you understand that they tried to use the MOA, reserved for Government entities, as a pass-through to a PRIVATE COMPANY? The unions aren’t pleased, either, when they realized (after I told them AND SHOWED THEM) that they were protesting for a SHORT-CUT.

There is a method for putting through what is needed without gutting the Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan to do it. It involves following the plan as written, using existing disturbed areas (ROADS) as the route. This Spring’s effort was to cut across protected areas, and had little to do with anything more than rewarding certain persons along the shortened route. A cost savings at the expense of YOUR protected wildlands, with private benificiaries involved like on an old-school corrupt on-ramp scheme.

Ed Lloyd’s “forced recusal” showed how they were trying to stack the deck – because, as he and I discussed IMMEDIATELY AFTER HE WALKED OUT (we spent over 1/2 hour together on this issue – just we two – in the adjacent conference room – this is an issue he knows I am VERY familiar with). We discussed the risk of allowing a MOA to be passed through to a private corporation, and agree that this is action would set a precedent that could be demanded by others in the future, thereby, pulling the teeth of the Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan.

More recently, Ms. Ficcaglia, of Cumberland County, who served on the comittee for years, was removed, because she stood up for the law the people’s representatives put in place. She and I have also been in contact over this issue.

It’s not about the pipeline, folks. There’s a legal way to do it. It’s about removing the restrictions and protections in place now, and establishing a precedent to allow the regulations to be ignored as seen fit by those in thrall to the highest bidder. There is no stewardship in evidence among those who voted FOR the pipeline short-cut.

THAT is the real issue. WHAT would be the next “EXCEPTION”?

Pray Tell, TOM MACARTHUR, where do YOU stand on the pipeline, or, more importantly, on the use of Memoranda of Agreement by private entities to thwart the protection of our LOCAL environment? I know you don’t really know what that means to the folks in CD3, because, to you, the pipeline is “not here”…that’s not the issue. Granting the pass-through will allow far worse to proceed, and the land WE in the district all love will be nothing more than “in the way of progress”.

Got the balls to take a position? This matters.

“Stand for what’s right, or settle for what’s left” – Frederick John LaVergne, “Democratic-Republican” for Congress, NJ CD3 2014.
