Friday’s acted-upon items from the big guy…
In no particular order:
S-562/A-3322 (Turner, Gill/Schaer, Garcia, Lagana) – Requires health insurance carriers to encrypt certain information
S-2021/A-3124 (Sweeney, Oroho/Burzichelli, Riley) – Exempts certain temporary farm structures from permit and transition area requirements of “Freshwater Wetlands Protection Act”
A-1993/S-2280 (Watson Coleman, Tucker/Turner, Ruiz) – Authorizes special Alpha Kappa Alpha license plate
AJR-51/SJR-57 (Dancer, Andrzejczak/Van Drew) – Designates one week each year as “Pollinator Week”
AJR-88/SJR-32 (Rible, S. Kean, Prieto, Bramnick/Singer) – Permanently designates third Thursday in November as “Children’s Grief Awareness Day” in New Jersey
“Pollinator” week sounds like a hoot, huh?
BTW – AJR-88 establishes a “Children’s Grief Awareness Day” on the Thursday prior to Thanksgiving.
“Designating a day to recognize children’s grief will be a way to initiate conversations about loss and recognize the children’s feelings,” said Asm. Sean Kean (R-Monmouth and Ocean), one of the sponsors. “I hope this day will help children impacted by the death of a loved one to acknowledge their grief in a healthy, supportive way.”
Pollinator Week! This wins as the most assine.

Seriously
Do legislatures just write legislation to feel like they are doing something? Does it give them some type of feeling of self- worth?
@Greg Yes; that’s a big part of it. They’re also aiming at narrow constituency groups b/c they’ll vote.
