Here’s a little update for you following the announcement of Alison McHose’s imminent departure from the legislature, Save Jerseyans:
Add to our preliminary shortlist Sussex County Freeholder Gail Phoebus (R), whose term is up this upcoming December, and who may also be the front runner according to at least one well-placed Republican source.
No convention will be scheduled, however, until McHose actually resigns. When will that be? I’m told she’s in consultation with the Republican leadership.
Via Facebook, Phoebus posted late Sunday night “a sincere thank you to all [her] family, friends and supporters.”
“I feel so very honored to be considered for the position of Assembly Woman,” Phoebus continued. “I look forward to beginning this journey and continuing to serve our residents.”
Also in the mix? Marie Bilik, who formerly serves as mayor of Green Township and executive director of the New Jersey School Board Association before working for as COO of The National School Board Association, will reportedly challenge Phoebus at the convention and, if need be, in the primary.
