Earning early accolades for setting a furious, district-centric work pace, including leading the effort to save the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst that’s fate is somewhat tied to the KC-10 refueling tanker, frosh Congressman Tom MacArthur (R, NJ-3) just took on another role: Vice Chairman of the Military Personnel Subcommittee under Congressman Joseph Heck (R, NV-3).

“I’m pleased that Congressman MacArthur will be serving as Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel,” said Congressman Mac Thornberry, who serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Armed Services, the parent committee. “As he represents the only tri-service military base in the country, Tom knows firsthand the importance of providing first class benefits to our men and women of the Armed Forces. I’m looking forward to the work he will accomplish over this term.”

The Military Personnel Subcommittee overseas a wide range of personnel policy related issues including health care, education, and POW/MIA issues for the military branches.

How do we know that MacArthur is making a splash of sorts? Well, for starters, we told you last week that his name didn’t make it on to the DCCC’s first round top target list for 2016.
