Lois Lerner would blush! And Franklin Mayor says it’s time for Assemblyman, Councilman to both go

By Matt Rooney | The Save Jersey Blog

Franklin Township Mayor Chris Kelly says it’s time for Councilman-at-Large Rajiv Prasad and Franklin Township Democrat Municipal Chair/Assemblyman Joseph Danielsen to resign their posts, Save Jerseyans. At the heart of this political conflagration? The FBI.

But not how they usually turn up in New Jersey political contexts with evidence boxes and handcuffs in tow.

The worst of it started when Prasad, a Democrat, e-mailed township Police Chief Lawrence Roberts in July asking him to investigate social media opponents of Catalpa Park, a $4.5 million, 25-acre development that will feature two cricket pitches. The Tranquility Protection Alliance of Franklin Township Facebook group believe its a bad for the ascetics of the sprawling Somerset County community. Prasad? This low-life says opposition to the Indian community-related project is racially-motivated; he wanted the FBI to interview two of the park’s opponents “so that they will think twice before resorting to any violence.”

You can read’em here. It’s awful stuff. Lois Lerner-esque but somehow worse?

“I have attached a copy of their posting from their website, for your information. I would also like to request you to forward this information to your FBIConnections, so that they can possibly interview Brian and Gina Uhlrich locally, so that they will think twice before resorting to any violence,” Prasad complained. “At least they will know that they are not operating under the radar. This hatred has to stop. I am concerned for my fellow South Asian residents of Franklin Township. Indians are historically very Peace Loving people and abhor violence. The Leading Western minds were influenced and have testified to that effect. Please see the attached for your information and use.”

Kelly says Prasad then compounded his sin by denying some of his more incendiary comments at an August 11th council meeting.

Danielsen? “He has blurred the lines between his role as Assemblyman and Municipal Chairman and this is not fair the residents of Franklin deserve better,” the Mayor continued in a statement, noting that the Assemblyman interjected himself in the process and accepted $4,700 in donations from Catalpa Park’s engineering firm. “Chairman Danielsen has shown that he cannot separate his roles or responsibilities as Assemblyman and Franklin Township Democrat Municipal Chairman. His decision to push the development of Catalpa Park, designed by his financial donors is at best, inappropriate and will cost Franklin millions of dollars need to be investigated.”

So there are two layers to this mess, Save Jerseyans, but Councilman Prasad’s behavior is beyond the pale in my mind despite being all-too common in modern Democrat politics. No one can disagree with them without being castigated as an alleged racist or bigot. It gets old real quick; it’s also a problem because the “tolerant tyrants” among us make it impossible to have an open public discourse on critical issues impacting the community’s well-being.

  1. Lois Lerner wouldn’t blush because toads cannot, but using police and FBI against political opponents is becoming dangerously popular trend among Democrats. Politics notwithstanding, what’s wrong with cricket fields? They can perfectly double as soccer and/or football fields.

  2. The cricket girls are only one party, not even the feature. Other people complained about soccer field and softball. It’s not just about cricket.

  3. What isn’t mentioned is what happened to the recording of the August 11 council meeting, where Prasad made his denials — and where the public took the governing body to task for their misdeeds. You will find the recording does not exist, The town’s IT person hit record but couldn’t find the video files after the meeting was over. The town clerk, who makes his own audio recording on tape or digital media, didn’t record the meeting — despite the town having an ordinance stating the clerk is supposed to make a audio recording of every meeting. The minutes of the meeting now serve as the official document for the meeting. Those minutes? Not on the town’s website as of this posting, and they are like watered down vodka at a Bennigan’s in the 1990s — no substance, barely representing the real thing.
