The Donald continues to lead all public polling with four months to go before Republican primary voters and caucus-goers start weighing in, Save Jerseyans, and as much as the talking heads are fond of reminding us that it’s “early,” I think it’s worth pointing out that Donald Trump no longer looks likely to disappear on his own.
Someone is going to need to knock out the champ. But who can do it? Particularly in a crowded field where Super PACs make it possible to stay deep into the race without actually polling well? Marco Rubio is the latest to try. For now, it looks like the next best opportunity for the numbers to move is at next week’s Simi Valley’s Reagan Library debate hosted by CNN.
