After being selected to fill the balance of Alison Littell McHose‘s unexpired term two weeks ago, Save Jerseyans, former Sussex Freeholder Gail Phoebus (R-24) can now drop the “elect” prefix from her new title.
The new assemblywoman was sworn into office on Friday morning with family and friends present for the ceremony officiated by Speaker Prieto.
“Reducing the size and scope of government and the inequitable school funding formula must be addressed if we are to reduce the property tax burden in New Jersey,” said Phoebus. “Job creation through the growth of the private sector is another top priority. I am honored to serve the people of the 24th Legislative District and look forward to working with my colleagues in Trenton to make our state a more affordable place to live, work and raise a family.”
Asw. Phoebus is getting a jump, but she’s one of a number of new freshman coming out of the 2015 cycle, the rest of whom will be taking their seats in January including new Assembly members in LD1, LD8, L11 and LD16.
