“As the New York Times most-recently opined, ‘With Mr. Cuomo, Mr. Christie and the New York Legislature now agreed on a course of action, (S-355) it’s up to the New Jersey Legislature to accept this bill as a fair way to go forward,” Senate GOP Leader Tom Kean (R-Union) declared on Thursday afternoon after the Democrat-controlled State Government committee yet again blocked S-355, legislation designed to reform the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.
“On behalf of constituents and commuters across New Jersey, I am dismayed that New Jersey Senate Democrats continue to waste time and resources on smokescreen bills,” Kean continued in a statement obtained by Save Jersey. “Their obstruction leaves commuters and taxpayers vulnerable, without S-355 in place to prevent the Port Authority from ever again wasting or wantonly increasing the billions of dollars the public agency takes each year from hard-working commuters and taxpayers.”
So much for the legislative Bridgegate investigation having anything to do with reform, right?
“We’re beyond a policy debate on this issue,” Kean added. “We must do what we were elected to do for the people who elected us. No more excuses; No more delays; No more trying to mislead the public. No more validating people’s cynicism that this legislature can’t deliver as well as New York.”
And if you believe they’ll listen, Save Jerseyans, then I’ve got a bridge to sell you!
