Don’t let what can often be a deflating GOP primary process get you down, Save Jerseyans.
New Jersey’s Republican Party has also undoubtedly seen better days, it’s true, but the movement is still alive and well in many areas including red Ocean County where a new generation of GOP’ers is organizing.
I was able to make the last event back before the holidays and was definitely impressed. The Ocean County Young Republicans gathered again on Thursday at the scenic Water Street Grille in Toms River for an event that drew over 80 people attendees including county and state elected officials, professionals, and plenty of 20 and 30-something activists.
It’s not as easy to pull off as you might think…
Billed as a networking event by organizer-in-chief Chris Dasti, the free gathering was sponsored by a group of regional political heavy hitters: Dasti Murphy McGuckin Ulaky Koutsouris & Connors, P.C., Holman Frenia Allison, P.C., Chris Russell Consulting, LLC, T&M Associates, IM Goldman Legal Group and Levin Shea Pfeffer, P.C.
When I reached out to Chris to see how things went, he emphasized that his every-expanding group’s aim is inclusive and forward-thinking.
“The goal of these events is to advance the organization by providing an informal setting where younger professionals have the opportunity to meet with current leaders, elected officials and other members of the Party,” he explained. “We look forward to having these types of events every few months to continue to grow the future of the Party.”
Amen. New blood isn’t just a good thing, folks; it’s a necessity for a Republican Party that’s at a crossroads both nationally and at the state level. Chris deserves credit for the work he’s doing and I hope plenty of other young Republican leaders and leaders-in-waiting living in our other 20 counties (h/t Bergen County for being another positive example) take notes. Nothing is more important!
