MacArthur campaign trolls ‘Seedy’ Jim Keady over family bar’s colorful history

Democrat Jim Keady may be about to get a new nickname, Save Jerseyans.

Ahead of the aspiring Democrat NJ-03 nominee’s campaign kick-off on Thursday night at his restaurant/bar – the Lighthouse Tavern located in Waretown (Ocean County) – the campaign of freshman Republican Congressman Tom McArthur is welcoming him to the Third Congressional District race with a salvo aimed directly at the liberal’s landmark eatery and its colorful collection of news clippings.

Curious? So were we.

Save Jersey has learned that the following robocall is hitting phones throughout the district today:

The robocall alleges nearly forty (40) health code violations, and details a couple of them, as well as “dozens of police incidents” involving patrons of the 34-year-old restaurant.

“If ‘Seedy’ Jim Keady can’t even manage the Lighthouse Tavern, how does he expect to take on the big issues facing this country?” the narrator inquires.

I did a little impromptu on-line research after learning about the robocall.

In October 2011, the bar did receive a “Conditional Satisfactory” inspection rating which, according to The Patch reporter’s research, translates to the following: “Needs improvement in several areas, as determined by the licensed inspector and interpretation of the State Health Codes. A time limit is set for the establishment to come into compliance and a re-inspection is done in order to assure this compliance.

On the “police incident” front, I found an alleged attempted murder in March 2012 which made New York media market news after someone was reportedly found outside the Irish-themed establishment “unconscious and suffering from serious injuries.” A Barnegat man was ultimately charged.

Keady reportedly took over the family-run Route 9 establishment not long after these incidents, around 2013, following the passing of his father.

The restaurant received a ‘satisfactory’ rating in November 2014 after a re-inspection.

Make your own judgments, folks. Either way, it’s definitely been a rough start to the cycle for the former Asbury Park Councilman’s campaign; just recently, Keady trumpeted the endorsement of a cop killer’s leading defender on social media (!).

Accomplishments? Keady’s sole claim to fame is a loud October 2014 encounter with Chris Christie but, in 2015, he ran a failed Assembly campaign in which he attempted to leverage his YouTube star status and, in 2016, he’s failed to secure the backing of Burlington County’s Democrats in his quest to represent the two-county district.

  1. Wow – that’s twice. We agree, again? I am surprised you didn’t bring up the so-called “labor advocate’s” use of a bogus union bug on his flyers – an absolutely egregious act, or his failure to maintain workman’s compensation insurance on his own employees while gallivanting around the globe fighting for “social justice” (15K judgment from the State for that – they can only go back three years).

Is it “socially just” to sue your college for 11 million dollars because they didn’t rehire you for a 4k work-study job? (He was never the coach of the St. John’s team, as he has lied to many about. Dave Masur, a Shore area soccer icon who played with and against my brother, was the real coach – I guess he thought no one would check. This seems to be a pattern when you review his “resume”. Naturally, the judge laughed him out of court.

You could ask him why he was forced to resign early from Asbury Park council, or why he tried to block a Columbus Day re-enactment that included the Boy Scouts, or why his campaign office for re-election was raided and over 300 bogus mail-in ballots were recovered – but then not prosecuted when he hired Republican MonCO chair John O Bennett as his counsel. There’s a lot you “could” ask. Not to worry, though – after June 7th, he should be in everyone’s rear-view mirror, and we can begin working toward what’s right for CD3 – from both sides.

The Democrat County Chairman, Vin Gopal, even agreed with Chris Christie on my opponent, after JK blamed the New Jersey State Democratic Committee for his double digit loss…repeating the phrase that gave him his “fifteen minutes”.

Opponent Sean Kean R-30, put it better than both of us, I suppose – ““I think Keady baited the governor,” Kean said. “The governor could have handled it more subtly. I don’t think the governor knew he [Keady] was a Democratic political operative. I think he staged the whole thing. He doesn’t care about Belmar as much as his own press and his own notoriety.”

The selfie-stick candidate shows great, but has no substance behind him. Folks who know him know that. His own former running mate phrased it best – (name withheld for respect)

There are three kinds of people who support JK –

    Those who don’t know him.
Those who do, but never had to work with him.
Those who are star-struck by cable/youtube “fame”.

You will enjoy the tale of how desperately OC tried to block our candidacy. It’s coming.

Tom, whatever November’s outcome, there is much to be discussed, and much to be accomplished. Getting ready to get down to business, and I know you are, as well.

  2. Tracy Fred is equally as bad, HE does not pay his taxes and is losing his home to a sheriff sale

  3. This sounds 100% worse.

  4. The ballot thing sounds hortitle. Like he tried to steal an election. Was he charged yet. I Googled Asbury Park and Ballots and saw another A-Team member was just arrested. If Keady is arrested, what happens to his run?
