President Barack Obama addressed a crowd of approximately 50,000 at High Point Solutions Stadium on Rutgers’ Busch Campus in Piscataway this Sunday, Save Jerseyans, and while saluting a long history of Rutger University’s intellectual contributions to the country and the world, the lame duck commander-in-chief could’ve help but allude to the ongoing presidential election campaign and its relevance for 2016 graduates.

“If you were listening to today’s political debate, you might wonder where this strain of anti-intellectualism came from… In politics and in life, ignorance is not a virtue,” Obama boomed from the stage.

Consistent with that theme, the President surprised many detractors (and perhaps even more liberal supporters) by condemning recent efforts launched by Rutgers faculty and students to bar Dr. Condi Rice as a commencement speaker, dismissing the campaign as misguided.
