Stumping in A.C., Hillary says Christie should stop ‘holding Trump’s coat’

Hillary Clinton, fresh from seemingly escaping indictment in the #EmailGate scandal, dropped by Atlantic City on Wednesday for a press conference designed to highlight Donald Trump‘s controversial, mixed record in the struggling resort town.

Standing in front of Boardwalk Hall, the presumptive Democrat nominee repeatedly savaged Trump for “multiple bankruptcies, stiffing contractors and spurring hundreds of job losses” during his tenure as a casino owner at the Jersey Shore.

Clinton saved some of her strongest criticism for leading Trump ally and possible running mate Chris Christie:

“If your governor will start doing his job instead of following Donald Trump around, holding his coat, maybe we could really get New Jersey’s economy moving again,” Clinton told a friendly and cheering South Jersey crowd.

Trump’s poor treatment of Christie in front of the cameras has become a popular topic for media coverage of the GOP presidential campaign. Christie, for his part, recently denied acting as the presumptive Republican nominee’s “manservant” after a denied report that the Republican Governor retrieved a McDonald’s order for the Donald.

The New Jersey Republican Party was quick to respond in Christie’s defense.

“It’s not surprising that Hillary Clinton would want to blow off a little steam in Atlantic City after spending her 4th of July holiday being interviewed by the FBI,” NJ GOP Chairman Sam Raia shot back in a rare public statement. “She’s going to need more than card tricks to convince Americans that she was doing anything but gambling with our nation’s security by using a secret server as Secretary of State. Bill Clinton might attempt to stack the deck by holding private meetings with the Attorney General, but the numbers don’t lie. Clinton’s use of this secret server exposed over 2,000 emails containing classified information. She made this decision to hide her shady dealings as Secretary of State and the tangled web she wove between donors, State Department actions, and her family foundation. “

“Hillary Clinton has lived her entire life playing by a different set of rule,” added Raia. “Voters shouldn’t trust her at the card table and they certainly won’t trust her to be our next President.”
