BAYVILLE, N.J. — Lacking a serious Democrat opponent this fall but perhaps anticipating a Hillary Clinton victory in the Garden State, freshman Congressman Tom MacArthur (R, N.J.-03) is touting his independent credentials in his first television advertisement of the general election cycle.
In fact, New Jersey’s most famous Democrat make an appearance in the one-minute long spot.
The new ad features U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-N.J.) describing MacArthur as “not a politician. He’s a public servant… he’s a guy who works across the aisle all the time to find compromise to bring us forward.”
“As a long-time businessman, I take a practical approach to my job in Congress,” MacArthur said at the time of the ad’s launch. “It’s all about accomplishing things that makes people’s lives better and a big part of that is working hard, working with others and not taking anything for granted. I have that same mentality about my first re-election campaign. We have a great network of supporters and we are running a strong campaign together.”

MacArthur faces Democrat challenger Fred LaVergne of Burlington County this November.
The Congressman, for his part, is widely rumored to be a future candidate for statewide office, though he is not seriously considered to be interested in a run for governor in 2017.
