Donald Trump’s latest flip-flop is Jersey-centric, Save Jerseyans.
On Tuesday, as the Bridgegate trial gets underway and unflattering allegations are lodged against Governor Chris Christie by the defense and the prosecution, Donald Trump stood by his transition czar.
“I have known and liked Chris for 15 years,” Trump told reporters according The New York Times. “After his recent run for president, he called me to say that he would like to endorse me in that he sees a movement like he has never seen before. I was greatly honored, accepted his endorsement, and he has been a spectacular advocate ever since.”

Prosecutors argued on Monday that Governor Christie knew about the infamous lane closures while they were happening, a charge which the Christie Administration has repeatedly denied. The surprise development only the latest headache for the man who, only days ago, admitted the George Washington Bridge scandal served as a ‘factor’ in killing his 2016 vice presidential hopes.
David Wildstein — the blogger-turned-Port Authority official who cut a deal with prosecutors before the trial — will reportedly add fuel to the fire when he testifies that both he and Bridgegate co-defendant Bill Baroni told Chris Christie about the lane closures back on September 11, 2013.
Of course, none of this means prosecutors can prove Chris Christie broke any laws. The Governor hasn’t been charged with anything to date. He’s innocent until proven otherwise.
All the same, if true, it would mean that Christie wasn’t honest with the public when he denied personal knowledge of the scheme until after it was already over. A recently-revealed text message verifies that at least one former senior staffer believes he lied.
Meanwhile, the Donald’s own non-answer represents a very different position than the one he took during the GOP primary; back in December 2015, he told an audience that Christie ‘totally knew’ about the lane closures., a charge he repeated on more than one occasion up until Governor Christie dropped out of the race post-New Hampshire.
