Young Republican leader Linda Hughes is now Burlington County’s newest freeholder.
On Friday, she took the oath of office to full the unexpired term of her predecessor, Mary Ann O’Brien.
O’Brien recently resigned from the freeholder board after she was elected county surrogate back on November 8th. New Jersey prohibits dual office holding.
Hughes, a senior communications associate for Bayada Home Health Care, can pursue a full term of her own by running next November.
Burlington Republicans enjoy a lock on all county offices including a 5-0 freeholder board majority.
