LD40: Robertson Files with BCRO for Assembly Run

Robertson

Norm Robertson is a candidate for State Assembly this year, Save Jerseyans, thrusting the former State Senator into what stands to be a raucous intra-party LD40 primary.

The Chairman is no stranger to politics, having served as an attorney, Passaic County Freeholder and GOP congressional nominee.

LD40 is a safe GOP district but stands to get substantial attention in 2017.

Bergen County Republican Chairman Paul DiGaetano did not back former Wyckoff Mayor Kevin Rooney in his recent successful committee election to replace retired Assemblyman Scott Rumana who joined the state judiciary; Rooney will now run with Passaic County Clerk Kristin Corrado (for Senate) and fellow former Wyckoff Mayor Christopher DePhillips (for Assembly) this June.

It’s been rumored that DiGaetano is considering a run of his own for State Senate.

Robertson will seek to pick off Rooney, DePhillips or both to earn his place on the November ballot.

“Yesterday I submitted a letter of intent to the Bergen County Republican Organization declaring my intention to seek the party’s nomination as a candidate for the New Jersey General Assembly from the 40th Legislative District,” Robertson announced on Facebook. “Since I left the Parole Board so many people have encouraged me to step forward again. I am deeply concerned with things in Trenton and the tone of politics on Facebook and elsewhere. So …. I’m running.”
