Kevin Rooney of Wyckoff is New Jersey’s newest Assemblyman, Save Jerseyans.
“I look forward to representing the more than 200,000 residents of my district as well as all of our state’s citizens,” said Assemblyman Rooney (R-40), after today’s swearing in ceremony presided over by Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto. “As a former mayor, I fully understand the many challenges our towns face in keeping taxes and costs down while delivering quality services. I bring that experience and energy to Trenton where I will work to find common ground to deliver the results our residents want and deserve.”
Rooney has served on Wyckoff Township Committee since 2009, serving twice as mayor and three times as deputy mayor including throughout 2016. Rooney spent three decades in real estate development and management; he’s also a former champion on the Food Network’s popular ‘Chopped’ program.
The former mayor prevailed in a November 22nd committee vote to succeed former Assemblyman Scott Rumana who resigned earlier in the fall to take a seat with the Superior Court.
LD40 encompassed portions of Bergen, Passaic, Morris, and Essex counties.
