The morning after Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno helped Assembly candidate Vince Sera (R-2) kick off his campaign in Egg Harbor Township (Atlantic County), the Republican gubernatorial primary front runner declared her support for the participation of all five (5) GOP candidates in next month’s ELEC-sanctioned debate at nearby Stockton University in Galloway:
All of the Republican candidates should be allowed to debate. I hope ELEC allows them to participate! #betterNJ
— Kim Guadagno (@KimGuadagnoNJ) April 27, 2017
One of the three excluded candidates – Atlantic City’s Hirsh Singh – has filed suit to compel his participation in the May 9th event streamed on Facebook Live and rebroadcast via NJTV.
The sticking point: there’s a $430,000 primary spending admission threshold.
Right now, Guadagno is facing challenge Jack Ciattarelli one-on-one on the stage, a match-up which observers believe is preferable for the Somerset Assemblyman as opposed to a crowded 5-person battle royal that’s less-conducive to substantive discussion at a time when Guadagno’s opponents, including Ciattarelli, are fighting for the spotlight.
