A brand new Rutgers-Eagleton poll dropped Thursday and Chris Christie has dropped to an approval rating of only 16%.

His favorable rating among New Jersey Republicans is at 35% (by contrast, three-quarters of New Jersey GOP’ers approval of their part-time summer resident President Donald Trump).

Christie’s approval rating is even worse than that of Bob Menendez (28%), New Jersey’s senior U.S. Senator who is about to begin a federal corruption trial next week.

“Views on the state’s direction have marched in lockstep with the governor’s spiraling ratings since the Bridgegate scandal broke in 2014, ” said Ashley Koning, director of the Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling (ECPIP) located at Rutgers University. “Dissatisfaction with state affairs is now at its highest point since 1992, as voters increasingly seem to feel Christie will be leaving New Jersey worse off than when he first took office.”
