Stymied by Congress and, arguably, his failure to manage difficult-to-corral congressional leaders, President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to threaten executive action on health care:
Since Congress can't get its act together on HealthCare, I will be using the power of the pen to give great HealthCare to many people – FAST
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 10, 2017
Neither Trump nor the White House immediately elaborated upon exactly what health care reform by executive action might look like.
ABC News did, however, report on Monday that “[t]he White House is finalizing an executive order that would expand health plans offered by associations to allow individuals to pool together and buy insurance outside their states, a unilateral move that follows failed efforts by Congress to overhaul the health care system.“
